Guess what's in my studio? A large fiberglass cat!
It all started a couple of years ago while dropping off a painting for a gallery show. Into the parking lot pulled a caravan of cars with large painted cats peering out the windows, both back and passenger front seats. Truthfully it was a memorable site, and had me wondering....What on earth is that about? So, after some investigating I discovered that the cats were on tour, all painted by local artists, and then destined to be auctioned off for a benefit for our local animal shelter the Cat Care Society! To say I'm excited would be an understatement. As artists go, it's been my experience that we all love a challenge, to try something new experiment, and create in a new way! I'm no different I suppose, loving everything from acrylic painting, drawing, stained glass to quilting and needlework, as well as my chosen disciplines of watercolor batik and watercolor. This year I submitted my ideas for a painted cat to the cat care society and my design was chosen along with many other artists, by juror and artist Cheryl St. John to be included in next year's gala event! I hope to blog about the process a bit and let you see glimpses of it all... stay tuned! Here she is in her bubble wrapped splendor riding home in strapped into the back seat.
